Is This A Pyramid Scheme?
If you’re involved in a home based business, an MLM opportunity or a network marketing company there can be no more annoying question than “Is this a pyramid scheme?”. Just the phrase pyramid scheme tends to grate on most network marketers nerves. It’s just so frustrating to know that you have a real legitimate opportunity and how it be reduced to a silly or wore yet illegal scam.
Many people don’t know how to answer a question like this. Do we laugh it off? Do we get offended or defensive?
In my experience the best thing to do is to acknowledge the fact that there are scams out there and then look your prospect/friend/family member right in the eye and assure them that this is not one of them. You obviously can’t act like scams and schemes don’t exist because of course they do. You just have to be confident and clear in the fact that not all business opportunities are scams.
Some people are going to be put off at the idea of having to spend money to get started in a business. Rather than be annoyed you need to understand that many people are just not educated in the differences between owning a business and having a job.
A home based business is nothing like having a job so if it’s a job they’re looking for they’re barking up the wrong tree.
You need to be clear when you say that just because there is a start up cost does NOT make it illegal, immoral or unethical it’s simply a different kind of business model.
Finally if all else fails and you’ve tried and tried to explain yourself just move on. You don’t have time to spend with people who are never going to believe you no matter what you say. Just forget about them and move on. It’s their loss not yours.
